New year New you………?
Whilst I am someone who advocates for and believes in personal development, course correction and challenging our behaviours and beliefs on a regular basis. I do however think that New Years is a great time for those who are not (yet) as ‘awake’, curious or conscious around reflection, to take the time to stop and think about what they truly want for the new year.
So, I guess I want to take this opportunity, to share my personal take on how to do an end of year - new year reflection. Which is not much different to what I usually teach.
Take some time, without distraction, to reconnect with YOU. Your inner voice and soul.
How do you do this? Through meditative like moments, where you block out the ‘noise’ of life and drop into what is true for you.
You can either listen to soft music, binaural beats, be in silence or focus solely on breathing style meditation. Really, whatever works for you.
NO you don’t have to be ‘good’ at meditating, you don’t even have to have done it before. Just clear your physical space, mind and heart and ask what you truly want.
Step 1. REFLECTION
Before you do this though…. Get out a journal and write down these or similar questions.
Step 2. RECREATION
If you have the time, space and desire to continue to the next part, great! Otherwise, feel free to come back to this.
Write down these question in your journal or on paper:
If you have continued on from the Reflection phase, then simply close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. I like to breathe in for a count of 4 – hold for count of 4 – then exhale through the mouth deeply and fully for a count of 6. Do this 3 times being sure to focus your thoughts solely on this. Noticing your body rise as you breathe in and release any tension as you breathe out.
If you have returned to this process after a period of time, go through numbers 1 to 3 again:
Come up with ways/actions/steps that will help you achieve all that your body and soul truly want. This is how you start to shift the shit from the past and move into a more authentic and aligned being.
